About the Hearing and Balance Centre

The Hearing and Balance Centre was established in 1994 in St Vincent's Hospital Darlinghurst in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney.  We are a privately owned and operated Audiological practice with two owner/directors Sarah Platt-Hepworth and Vanessa Baillie both of whom are Audiologists. Since then we have expanded our service which now includes a practice at Double Bay, also in Sydneys Eastern Suburbs.  As a result of this expansion Bruce Kelsey joined us as director of the Double Bay Hearing Centre in 2006.

Over the years we have developed our philosophy of hearing health care which includes some key factors:

Working together: our Audiologists, Psychologist and Neurophysiotherapist work together in planning patient care whether it be in terms of the hearing tests needed, choosing an appropriate hearing aid, establishing an individual tinnitus management plan or providing therapy for dizziness.

Independence: we pride ourselves on being independent of any hearing aid manufacturer or external commercial companies. This enables our Audiologists to choose any brand of hearing aid available in Australia - ensuring our patients receive the most appropriate solution for their needs.

Professionalism: our senior audiologists are fully qualified and hold current clinical certificates. They are all members of the Audiological Society of Australia and take part in continuing education programs on a regular basis. This is essential in a profession that utilises rapidly changing technology and enables us to maintain the highest level of clinical and ethical standards.

Standard of care: all our patients are treated with care and respect. Our staff are trained to listen to the individual's needs and to strive to satisfy them.  All our staff are enthusiastic about their profession and deliver the highest level of hearing health care.
